 Today's content is going to focus on the practical ways of regulating your body weight as to remain healthy. I'm sure you know that body weight is an important aspect of our life that needs to be regulated. If we fail to regulate our body weight, it can lead to so many health issues that can impact our lives negatively. Hence, I shall be splitting the content of today's blog into several components, to be able to drive understanding of the content into you, so that you can be able to get to the target of my today's content. Thus, we shall be looking vividly into the following;

                             WHAT IS BODY WEIGHT?

Body weight is said to be the measurement of a person's total body mass. It is express in kilogram (kg) or pounds (lb), just like every other measurement. This body mass is made up of so many components, namely; the mass of the muscle, th fats in the body, the density of the bones, the content of water in the body and other body tissues. All these has their individual masses, that contributes to the total mass of the body, making up the body weight. Also, there are certain factors that can determine how large or small this body weight can be. Such factors include; genetics, type of food you eat, physical activities, hormonal changes and age. All these factors contibute to excess body weight in one way or the other. Body weight is good for healthy living and participation in physical activities, but when in excess it may lead to a serious health issue. Therefore, this brings us to the next section of today's content;

       

                                WHAT IS EXCESS BODY WEIGHT?

Excess body weight is a situation whereby a person possesses more body fat than should be considered healthy for the person's height, age, and sex. Excess body weight is always measured using body mass index (BMI), this gives the mathematical relationship between the weight of the body and it's height. This excess body weight, may be considered as;

1. Overwight; When the BMI is around 25 to 29.9

2. Obesity; When the BMI is more than 30.

Both Overweight and Obesity, are not so good for human health. There are a lot of factors that can be responsible for these overweight and obesity, and this I want to consider next; 


                      WHAT CAN LEAD TO EXCESS BODY WEIGHT?

Some of the factors that can cause excess body weight include;

1. Eating unhealthy diet: This is one of the major causes of excess body weight. When you consume foods and drinks that are highly rich in calorie. This can cause excess body weight. Also too much and unhealthy eating habits can lead to the same.

2. Physical inactivity: When you deny yourself exercises or not getting enough time for physical activities, you are giving room for excess body weight.

3. Genetics: Genetics also determines the degree of individual's body weight. This it does by influencing various factors like; metabolism, appettite regulation and the way the body can store fat.

4. Hormonal imbalances: Hormonal imbalances, like; hypothyroidism, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome  (PCOS), can also lead to excess body weight.

5. Medications: Some of the medications like; steriods and certain antidepressants, can lead to weight gain, thereby causing excess body weight.

6. Environmental factors: If you find yourself in an environment that allows you to eat too much, discourages physical activities and does not allow enough sleep, such can lead to the possession excess body weight

7. Age: Research have shown that the older one becomes, the more his or her muscle losses weight. Hence, body weight decreases as one gets older.

All these factors are the major causes of excess body weight, hence regulating your body weight means to manage and have control over these causative factors.

        WHAT ARE THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF EXCESS BODY WEIGHT ON OUR HEALTH?

This is the major reason for today's content, because if excess body weight have no effect on our health, I wouldn't have included it in this blog. Hence, excess body weight can impact negatively to our health in the following ways;

1. High risk of chronic diseases: The higher  the body weight of an individual, the higher the risk of chronic diseases, like; type 2 diabetes, heart diseases, and cancer.

2. Joint problems: Excess body weight always put too much strain and pressure on the joints, which can impair movement or makes it difficult for the person to walk.

3. Mental health issues: Excess body weight can lead to low self-esteem, depression and anxiety.

These are various ways excess body weight can affect our health. From here, we now move to the very important section of today's content. Thus, I shall be considering the question;

WHAT PRACTICAL MEASURES CAN YOU TAKE TO REGULATE YOUR BODY WEIGHT?

I will be showing you 5 practical measures you can take in order to regulate your body weight, so that you won't possess an excess body weight, thus remaining healthier and stronger. Therefore, to manage your body weight, take cognizance of the following fundamental practical measures;

1. Practice a healthy eating habit: This is one of the most efective methods of managing or regulating your body weight. Under this aspect, you have to focus on whole, nutrient-dense and try to practice portion control. This is because the more you eat too much, the higher your body weight. Also, you should consider the nutrient availability in the food you consume. This is because research has shown that processed foods and foods with added sugar, has more tendency of increasing the body weight. You should at the same time try to aviod late meals, in the night.

2. Engage in regular physical activities: Participating on exercises or any other physical activities, is another great way of managing your body weight. Such simple exercises like; walking, running, jogging, dancing, swimming, hopping, cycling, weight lifting and so on, can be a wonderful and reliable means of managing your body weight. Thus, the more you exercise, the lesser your body weight and vice versa.   

3. Practice enough sleeping hours: Another simple way of managing your body weight is, to get enough sleeping hours for yourself. This is because sleep have a way of influencing appettite-regulating hormones, impacting metabolic reactions and increasing physical activities. When this is done, it can improve your involvement in physical activities, hence regulating your body weight.

4. Drink enough water: It is obvious that water on its own cannot reduce body weight, but drinking enough water can improve metabolism, promote satiety and improve the overall body health, hence leading to a healthy body weight.

5. Seek for professional guide: If the condition becomes complex, that you don't know how to come about it, it becomes important for you to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for professional advice. They will also be of help for you to manage your body weight.

In summary, body weight is not the problem here, but the problem is excess of it. Believe me, if you can consider and practice the above listed methods, you will be able to regulate, manage and keep your body weight to normal, suitable for a good healthy living.
