1. HEAVY OR GREASED FOODS:
These foods are highly rich in fats, oil and grease. They cannot digest easily and are likely to worsen the symptoms of malaria and typhoid, such symptoms like; nausea and vomiting. Hence are not good for malaria and typhoid patients.
Foods under this category include; Fatty meats, sausages and pies, butter, ghee and lard, hard cheese, cheese crackers and some popcorns, ice cream, cakes, pastries, pizza, bacon, egg roll, macaroni, nachos, and any other heavy and greased foods.
2. SPICY OR ACIDIC FOODS:
These are are another set of foods that are not good for you, anytime you are having malaria or typhoid. These foods are highly acidic, and have a way of causing irritation to the stomach and can exacerbate the symptoms like; heartburn, nausea, and vomiting.
The foods that fall under this category include; tomatoes, all processed foods, carbonated drinks, sugary sweets, coffee and tea, all dairy products, citrus fruits, sports drinks, table surgar, alcoholic drinks, corn syrup, pancakes, milk, and any other acidic foods and spicy.
3. FIBER-RICH FOODS:
Another category of foods, that are not good for your health, anytime you are suffering from malaria or typhoid, are high-fiber foods. Although, fiber is very essential for overall health, at the same time, high-fiber foods can be very challenging in terms of digestion as they can be so difficult to digest, especially when experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms, like; diarrhea or abdominal pains. Hence, fiber-rich foods are not good for malaria and typhoid patients.
Foods under this group include; broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, guavas, apples, pears, bananas, berries, peas and green beans, artichokes, oats and bran, whole grains, avocados, pumpkin, popcorns, beans, lentils and chick peas, nuts, chia seeds, and any other food that is high in fiber.
4. CAFFEINE AND CARBONATED DRINKS:
Every malaria or typhoid patient must try to avoid caffeinated beverages, like; coffee, tea, and soda. They should also do away with carbonated drinks. These set of food can dehydrate the body, thereby making the symptoms of both sicknesses to be worsen.
The drinks under here include; 7-up, coca-cola, pepsi, root beer, orange sodas, ginger beer, lemon-lime, energy drinks and every other carbonated drinks.
5. RAW AND UNCOOKED FOODS:
Raw and uncooked foods should not near a malaria and typhoid patient. This is because they have the tendency of exacerbating infections, due to the bacteria that most of them may contain. Such bacteria may worsen the symptom and delay recovery.
Most of the foods under this category are; mostly fruits and vegetable, and poultry products.
6. HIGH-SUGAR FOODS:
Another category of food nutrients that should be avoided, anytime you are diagnosed of malaria and typhoid are foods that are highly riched in sugar. This is because such foods have a way of weakening the immune system, thereby delaying healing and making your body more susceptible to infections from certain bacteria that causes these sicknesses. Consuming excess sugar, when you are having malaria can also worsen symptoms of these diseases.
Foods that belong to this group include; fruit juices, energy drinks, sodas, candies, cakes, cookies and pastries, ice cream and frozen yogurt, sweetened tea and coffee drinks, puddings and milkshakes, granola, salad dressings, sauces and condiments, and any other food that has a high amount of sugar in it.
7. FRIED FOODS:
Fried foods should not come near you, anytime you are suffering from malaria and typhoid. This due to the fact that they can be very difficult to digest, and also have the tendency to worsen symptoms like; nausea and vomiting.
The foods under this category include; fried egg, fried fish, fried chicken, french fries, calamari, corn dogs, chicken finger, onion rings, fried cheese, buffalo wings, fried tofu, arancini, croquette, and any other form of fried food.
8. PROCESSED MEATS:
Processed meats are another set of food that malaria and typhoid patients must avoid. These foods are high in salt, sugar and unhealthy fats, which has the ability to exacerbate symptoms.
Foods that are found here include; ham, corned beef, salami, hot dogs, sausages, bacon, beef jerky, deli meats, chicken nuggets, and every other processed meat products.
9. CITRUS FRUITS AND JUICES:
While citrus fruits and juices are good sources of vitamin C; an essential nutrient for immune functioning, at the same time, they can be very acidic for some people with malaria and typhoid. Hence, it becomes important for you to avoid them during the period of these sicknesses. This is due to their acidic composition, which can make them to exacerbate infections and interact with drugs.
Some of the fruits under this include; lemon, pomelo, citron, grapefruit, sweet lemon, tangelo, and other forms of citrus fruits and juices.
