Majorly, body energy is categorized into two different types. That is;

We shall be looking at these two relative to our body, this is because even machines possessed the above two categories of energy.             What is potential energy?

This is the energy that the body stores from the food we eat, which can be transformed to kinetic energy when we want to do any form of physical activity. This energy is stored right in the muscles or in the fat cells. It is the type of food you eat that can determine the amount of potential energy your body can store, thus determining the amount of kinetic energy you will produce when you are ready to do work. It is because of this category of energy that makes it to become paramount for you to take cognizance of the kind of food you eat. This is because so many food items may not be a good source of potential body energy. Hence, this takes us to the next question of this content;

          WHAT ARE THE MAJOR SOURCES OF BODY ENERGY?

Talking about the major sources of body energy is a clear proof that not everything we may consume as food or drinks can supply energy which the body needs to carry out its activities. Hence the major sources of body energy may be classified into three types as listed below;

The class the food substance you consume belongs to, determines the amount of energy that will be stored in your body for daily activities. The last but not the least source of body energy is;

3. The nutrients: Nutrients talks about the chemical composition in the food you eat. It has been tested and proved that foods rich in vitamins and fats are very good sources of the body energy. Such food nutrients supplies a large amount of energy to the body. You can get vitamins majorly from fruits and fats from foods like; butter, meat, fish, cheese, etc.

2 Through the process of metabolism: By metabolism, we meant the breaking down or synthesis of the body's organic molecules, which also leads to a release of energy which the body can use to function. Thus, through the breaking down of these organic molecules, a huge amount of energy is generated in the body to be used by the body.

As I have stated earlier at the beginning of this content and from what you have seen so far, you can now come to the knowledge that body energy is not just important but very useful in the life of every man. Not minding, I shall also explore through the indubitable importance of body energy especially to man. The importance of this, is summarized under the following sub-headings:

1. For physical activities: It is totally and completely obvious that no man can be able to carry out, partake or function in any physical activity, without enough body energy. Without body energy, activities like; walking, running, exercising and even working, can never be possible. Hence, it takes body energy to take part on any daily physical activity.

2. Contraction of the muscle: It is the expansion and contraction of the human muscles that brings about movement, and without enough body energy, the contraction of the muscle cannot take place. Which means that movement cannot also take place.

3. Cellular functions: For the human body cells to function regularly, properly and effectively, a suitable amount of energy is required. It is this cellular functions that brings about growth, repair and maintenance of the body cells and tissues.

4. Metabolic activities: The processes of metabolism, which is a very important process in human body system, cannot occur without enough body energy. This means that without body energy, the breaking down and synthesis of food nutrients cannot take place in the human body, and this can result to a serious health issue.

5. Functioning of the nervous systems: The nerve impulses that allows us to think, move and respond to different environmental stimuli, cannot take place without enough body energy.

6. Regulation of the body hormones: The production and regulation of the important body hormones like; growth hormones, insulin, testosterone, prolactin, estrogen, and so on, which helps in controlling different body functions, is brought about by body energy.

7. Functioning of the immune system: The body immune system, which protects the body from so many dangerous diseases, cannot function properly without body energy.

All these have justified the fact that our body needs enough energy for us to exist and enjoy our existence on the planet earth. To this end, we shall be considering the last section of today's content, which formed the crux of this content.
