In today's content, we are looking at another important issue that can harm your health if care is not taken. This might have formed your habit before now, but as a matter of urgency, you must see the need to stop it, as fast as possible. Sometimes, what we eat or consume may be a threat to our health. That is why as someone that love your health and life, you must be very conscious of the food combination you integrate into your daily diet, so that you will not on trying to do good to yourself, you end up harming yourself. This is because, there is a food combination you will eat, and you may not know that it is food poisoning. So, today we want to look at certain food combinations which when you consume them at a single meal it becomes a food poisoning. Before we dive in completely;
What do we mean by food poisoning?
Food poisoning also known as foodborne illness is a situation when you drink or consume foods that are in one way or the other contaminated with harmful bacteria, viruses or other pathogens. I personally see it as a situation when you eat food whose nutrient contents are not appropriately combined according to the need of your body. It is good to combine one food nutrient with another. But sometimes, there are foods whose nutrient contents does not agree to be combined because of their chemical make up. Then trying to combine such foods in your diet, may harm your health and that becomes the food poisoning we are talking about. Every balanced diet has its proportion and required amount of available nutrients that it should contain, that is why it is called balanced diet. If it shifts from the proportion that makes it balance, it is no longer a balanced diet, although it still remain as food, but it will not be able to meet up with the need of the body. Certain combinations of food nutrients that most people eat from time to time, is neither qualified to be defined as balanced diet, nor to be defined as ordinary food, but food poisoning.
What are these food combinations that may be considered as food poisoning, which you need to stop combining as a matter of urgency?
1. Raw sprout and unpasteurized dairy.
2. Raw egg and unpasteurized juice.
3. Raw meat and vegetables.
4. Seafood and dairy.
5. Grapefruit and certain medications.
6. Raw or uncooked seafood and citrus.
Now, let's explain these in detail, to help you understand why their combination in a single meal is totally wrong for your health.
RAW SPROUT AND UNPASTEURIZED DAIRY:
Combination of a diet that contains raw sprout and unpasteurized dairy can be considered as a food poisoning due to the presence of salmonella, E.coli, listeria and campylobacter in both foods. All these are bacteria that can infect the system with sickness. Unpasteurized dairy which is raw milk contain a large content of these substances RAW EGGS AND UNPASTEURIZED JUICE:
A diet that is made up of raw eggs and unpasteurized juice, is not good at all to the body system and can be considered food poisoning due to the presence of salmonella, a bacteria that has the ability of causing food poisoning which can lead to symptoms of diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps and vomiting. This can also be a life threat. Hence, you should stop this condemnable combination of diet in your meal, as a matter of urgency, because it can kill immediately.
RAW MEAT AND VEGETABLES:
Another combination of food nutrients that may threaten your life, which you need to stop as a matter of urgency is, a food that combines raw meat and vegetables. This is due to the presence of E.coli, listeria and salmonella, bacteria that can cause dangerous illness to the body system.
SEAFOOD AND DAIRY:
Seafoods like; raw fish and diary or raw milk shouldn't go together as a meal, because seafood contains listeria and salmonella, these bacteria can infect the system with illness. Also, seafood contains a chemical called histamine, which can be very dangerous to the body.
GRAPEFRUIT AND CERTAIN MEDICATIONS:
Please, if you are combining anything like grapefruits and some medications in your diet, stop urgently - this is a health hazard. Don't even try to take any medications with grapefruits, it can kill immediately. This is because grapefruits can make the drugs stay longer than usual in your body system, which may has the same effect as drug abuse or overdose. This can affect the heart rhythms, cause kidney damage, respiratory depression, bleeding from the stomach and intestine. These may not go well with health or life.
RAW OR UNCOOKED FOOD AND CITRUS:
Combining raw or uncooked foods with citrus is not just a health threat, but also a life threat. This is because when both foods are combined in a single diet, there will be an increased acidity of the digestive system by the citrus and this can lead to foodborne illness. Also combining these two food nutrients is dangerous to the body system, due to the fact that the citrus juice can provide a conducive environment for the growth of certain bacteria, which can increase foodborne illness. Not only that, the citrus has the ability of interfering with the absorption of certain food nutrients like; iron, in the raw foods. This can result to serious health problems in the digestive system. And may even lead to death.
To this end, you can see that certain foods nutrients can be very profitable to the body when they are taken alone, but if combined with certain food nutrients, they become foodborne illness or food poisoning. It therefore become paramount for you to take note of this when preparing your diet, so that you can know the type of food nutrients you can bring together any time you are setting your food menu. By so doing, you save yourself from the danger and ruinous effect of food poisoning, thus you enjoy a good and healthy life without any interference. Don't just eat what your appetite desired at any given time, but check the health implications before eating. Some food combinations can be very attractive, pleasant and delicious, and at the same time extremely harmful. So be wise and health conscious before eating any kind of food that you want to eat.
From what we have seen so far, you can notice that we have some major causes of food poisoning as contained in some of those food nutrients above. Hence, I will like to show you certain organisms responsible for food poisoning based on our content today.
Major causes of food poisoning includes:
1. Bacteria such as; Salmonella, E.coli, Campylobacter, and Listeria.
2. Viruses such as; Norovirus and rotavirus.
3. Parasites such as; Trichinella and Toxoplasma.
4. Contaminated food and water; When food or water is contaminated by certain pathogens, it may give room to the growth of the above factors.
When someone has been infected with food poison, how will you know? This takes us to the:
SYMPOMS OF FOOD POISONING:
Some of the symptoms of food poisoning include;
1. Diarrhea.
2. Nausea and vomiting.
3. Abdominal cramps.
4. Fever.
HOW CAN FOOD POISONING BE PREVENTED?
Generally, to prevent food poisoning take note of the following measures;
1. Ensure that you cooked raw foods thoroughly before eating, avoid some unhealthy half-done. Food should be cooked to certain internal temperatures of about 74 degree Celsius.
2. Avoid foods that have high risk of food poisoning, like; sprouts, unpasteurized dairy, uncooked meat or eggs.
3. Try handling and storing food items safely and properly, to avoid contamination by certain bacteria.
4. Always make sure you stay hydrated, by drinking enough water, this will help your body to recover from food poisoning.
In conclusion, most of the listed foods above are highly beneficial to the body, standing alone. But in combination with certain improper food nutrients, they become harmful to the body. Meanwhile, you can decide to eat them alone without combining them with some of those food nutrients listed above. By so doing, you will enjoy their optimal benefits and run away from their dangerous disadvantages, hence remaining healthy and well.
