Great people of  this  blog family, I welcome you all to today's edition of my blog content. Today, we are going to consider a very important part of our body - The eyes.

And  I will  be exploring the foods that can help you to improve your sight and keep you eyes healthy. So, stay tuned and let's dive in together.

Before we dive in fully, I want to take you through the importance of the human eye, so that you can see the major reason to embrace the healthy condition of your eyes.                                                 

                                       The Human Eye

The human eyes, unlike every other organs of the body, is the organ with the responsibility to allow for sight. The eyes by its nature is very sensitive and delicate. Hence, without the eyes, your existence on earth is not complete and cannot give you joy. So, as the other parts and organs of the body are very crucial in their functions, the eyes is not an exception. Unfortunately, so many people are too carefree and reluctant on ensuring the healthy condition of this important body organ. Similarly, you may be ignorant that there are       certain foods which can help damage your eye and impede its functioning. But today, I am not taking the negative direction, as I want to take you through this:

THE  SIMPLE FOODS THAT CAN HELP TO PREVENT EYE DISEASES:

It is certain that because of hunger and appetite, you may decide to eat whatever that comes your way as food.  But normally and health wise, it is  totally wrong. So many food does not just damage your eyes, but can lead to total blindness. Now, check out these simple foods, they can help to prevent certain eye diseases and maintain eye health:

1. LEAFY VEGETABLES 

           WHY IS LEAFY VEGETABLES GOOD FOR THE EYE?                                           If you are wondering why leafy vegetables should be integrated into your daily diet, the answer is here with you.

1. Leafy vegetables are highly rich in vitamins C and E, these two vitamins are needed for the protection of the eyes against damage and also to improve the health of the eyes.

2.  Leafy vegetables are also rich in antioxidants, like; lutein and zeaxanthin, and these protect the macula, the part of the eye that is responsible for central vision.                      Hence, adding leafy vegetables to your meal can help improve your sight and keep your eye healthy.



2. OILY FISH
   

                   WHY OILY FISHES ARE GOOD FOR THE EYE:                           Amongst other fishes, oily fish like; salmon, mackerels, trout, sardines and tuna are very good to the eye, because of the following reasons:

1. They are highly rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like; DHA and EPA, these fatty acids are highly needed for proper functioning of the retina and for the protection of the eyes against macular age-related degeneration and glaucoma, the major eye disease that affects old people. 

2. The omega-3 fatty acids in oily fish also helps in tear production, thereby reducing the symptoms of eye dryness which may lead to variety of symptoms such as; stinging or burning, light sensation, blurred vision and even gritty or scratchy sensation. And these are not good to the health of the eye.


3. EGGS
               
       WHY EGGS ARE NEEDED FOR THE HEALHTY CONDITION OF THE EYE:
The reason eggs are needed for the eyes  to stay healthy are;
1. They are highly rich in lutein, vitamin A, antioxidants and zeaxanthins, and these helps in prevention of macular degeneration, reduce the risk of cataracts in adults and for proper functioning of the cornea as to prevent blindness especially in children.

2. Also, eggs are reach in zinc, which contributes in keeping the retina healthy and prevent light damage.




4. CITRUS



Citrus are also beneficial in keeping the eye in a healthy condition, this is because of the following reasons;
1. Citrus are very good sources of vitamin C which is a very powerful antioxidant and which helps in preventing macular degeneration and cataracts.

2. The Vitamin C that is present in the citrus helps in the health of the eye's blood vessels and in the production of collagen a key component of the cornea.



5. CARROTS



CARROTS ARE ALSO GOOD FOR THE EYE BECAUSE:
 1. They are good source of beta-carotene, a compound that the body converts to vitamin A, and vitamin A is very important in maintaining vision.

2. Carrots also contains zinc and zeaxanthin, which helps in protecting the macula and help to reduce the risk macular degeneration in old people.


6. AVOCADO


                         AVOCADO HELPS IN KEEPING THE EYE HEALTHY BECAUSE:
1. Avocado is rich in vitamin E, food mineral that helps to protect the eye from oxidative stress and inflammation.

2. Avocado like the other fruits, is rich in antioxidants such as; lutein and zeaxanthin, which also helps to protect the eyes from damage caused by blue light.

3. Avocado helps in overall eye health, this is because of its various nutrient contents. That is to say, it is made up of different food nutrients needed to keep the eyes healthy.



7.  WALNUT

This is another food you need to embrace in other to keep you eyes free from diseases.
The walnut is good for the eyes in the following ways:

1. Walnuts are highly rich in omega-3 fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid, which helps to reduce eye inflammation.

2. Walnuts are made up of antioxidants, which protects the eyes from oxidative stress and eye damage.

3. Walnuts contain nutrients, which helps to keep the retina healthy and reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration.


8.   BELL PEPPER


The bell pepper also contribute in maintaining overall eye health. 

WHY IS BELL PEPPER GOOD FOR  KEEPING THE EYES HEALTHY?
Bell pepper is good for keeping the eyes in a healthy condition in the sense that:
1. The red and yellow varieties of bell pepper are rich in vitamin C, the food nutrient needed to protect the eye from damage caused by diet and unhealthy habits.

2. The red variety of bell pepper is rich in vitamin A (beta-carotene), a food mineral that the body converts into active vitamin A. Vitamin A is very crucial for vision.

3. Like avocado, bell pepper, also contain antioxidants which helps to protect the eyes from damage as a result of blue light.

9. BEEF

Beef is a meat gotten from matured cattle. It also serve important purposes in keeping our eyes in a healthy condition.
How IMPORTANT IS BEEF IN KEEPING THE EYES HEALTHY?
1. Beef is highly rich in zinc, a mineral that is very essential in keeping the retina healthy.

2. Beef is a very good source of protein, and protein is very crucial in maintaining good health, including the eye.

3. Beef is also made up of so many nutrients that are needed for the overall eye health and reduces the risk of eye diseases.

In conclusion, remember your eyes is an important part of your body and your life, without it the life may seem meaningless to you. And you cannot behold the beauty of the whole creations without your eyes. So, you can save your eyes from an everlasting damage by embracing some of these foods I listed above. Haven't seen the contributions each of the above foods can offer for the healthy state of your eyes, it is left for you to enter into the market and get as many as you like.
