Today, we want to talk about a very pivotal aspect of our society, that seems to be very
utilitarian in determining the growth, progress, development, advancement, and success of any group, organization, society and country. And any mistake made in chosen or selecting the people that will be in charge of this aspect of our society, we eventually affect all and sundry.
What aspect of our society are we talking about here?
Anyways, we are almost very close to the answer of the above question, and I want to explore through leadership, and specifically, I am going to look into;
THE CATACLYSMIC EFFECT OF A LEADER'S MISTAKE!
Before we will dive in completely, I will like you to understand that this blog is not in anyway meant to cause havoc, catastrophe, disunity or any of such to our society. But in my blog, I am dedicated to anything that will benefit all and sundry and when it comes to saying the truth, my blog doesn't respect personalities in so much that it will help to put things in order, towards the growth and development of our societies, our countries and the world at large.
Meanwhile, today's content is specifically made to address certain ambiences that appears not to be favorable to the people in our societies.
Based on this, there are important key points we should be considering here;
1. Who is a leader?
2. What does it take to be a good leader?
3. How to identify a selfish leader?
4. The leader's mistake and it's cataclysmic effects on the people.
Let's dive in together,
Who is a leader?
Personally, I defined a leader as someone generally appointed and accepted to serve the people and direct them into achieving a common goal. I am completely satisfied with this definition, for other definitions, you can do well contacting your oxford dictionary.
From my point of view, you see that a leader of the people must be appointed, he must be accepted, he must be willing to serve, he also directs and the target of all these is geared towards achieving a particular target and the target may be growth, development, better life, joy of the people.
Thus, anything that contradicts this, is completely out from the definition of who a leader ought to be.
It means that if someone ascends the throne of leadership by himself and not through the agreement of the people, such leader or leadership will be full of catastrophic experiences and the people being led in such category of leadership can never by any means enjoy the benefit of such leadership. Such a leader will be leading according to what will benefit himself and his immediate family, and he/she can never put the people he assumed to be leading into consideration. Such leader can wake up any day and come up with any policy he want and any decision he likes not minding the impact on the people.
For me, I understand that leadership position is a very sensitive and delicate position. People like me fear such positions, because the only thing that is very difficult to be led or controlled is mankind. That's why I respect leaders but I
at the same time must tell them the truth.
You know that not everyone can have the opportunity of becoming a leader, then if the opportunity is given to you, count it as an honor and don't see it as an opportunity to frustrate the lives of the people you are meant to serve.
Lack of the understanding that a leader is a servant to the masses, is one of the things that have mesmerized and hypnotized the office of leadership in the sight of the masses. And this has made leadership position not to have any regards or being respected by the people.
The day men started to take leadership position as a chance to upgrade financially, and demonstrate their power of attorney, was the same day that the true definition of leadership was totally eliminated from my person definition of leadership.
Remember, my blog spot is not meant to instigate any form of violence or hatred against any form or state of leadership, but as I earlier said, I' m here to put things in order and to bring out the truth, so that the people can know and classify the type of leadership they have as either; good or bad, pleasant or frustrating, comfortable or harming and so on.
And at this point, I have not started to specifically refer to a particular place or country, but speaking generally and when the time is right, I will now bring my content home, to the benefit of my people within my own circumference of existence.
At this point, let's switch over to;
What it takes to be a good leader:
The heart beat of every good leader should be to make a positive impact, leave a positive legacy and attend at least 85% of the goal that his leadership suppose to have achieved before leaving the office of leadership.
By the way;
Who is a good leader?
Your understanding of who a good leader is, will stand as a base for you to decode what it takes to be a good leader.
Leaders full every sector of life, ranging from our Families, Villages, Local governments, Institutions, Religious bodies, Business Enterprise, Politics and so on.
We are no longer interested on leaders, what we now desire is to have good leaders, who will have human sympathy at least up to 60%.
Who then is a good leader?
1. A good leader is one who must have been a good follower: It means that before anyone can be qualified and quantified as a good leader, we must trace back and examine tactically if such individual has exhibited the attribute and quality of a good follower the time he was being led by someone else. This is because, a stubborn, disobedient, criminal follower; when allowed to lead a set of people, will still transfer those qualities into his office of leadership and vice versa.
2. A good leader is considerate: Many who call themselves leaders, does not consider the interest, opinion, joy and happiness of the people they are leading in their decisions and policies. Some of them are so adamant that the cry, weeping, mourning, sorrow, pains and agony of the people they are trying to be leading, never come up into their mind, instead they choose to retreat to other countries where the people has good leadership and left their own followers in their own so called nugatory country. When a leader is happy and enjoying life abroad while his own people are in pains in their father land, such is never and can never be a good leader. Also, when a father of the house is happy seeing his own children in pains, such father is never a good leader, when a traditional ruler is flying from city to city while the people in his cabinet and kingdom are in hardship, such a traditional leader is worthy to be dethroned, when a governor, a senator, a president, a prime minister and so on are not mindful of the people they are appointed to lead, such are never good leaders. For a good leader, the pains of his people, is his pain and nothing more.
3. A good leader is humble:
Humility is the most important attribute and quality of a good leader. It takes nothing to show humility as a leader. It doesn't mean lack of authority and power. In fact research have shown that people listen to and obey a humble leader, than his arrogant counterpart. The problem we have in Nigeria and most of the African countries is that we has been lacking leaders who can humble themselves to the people who they are leading and freely interact with them. Once a man in Africa mount the throne of leadership, he can no longer relate with his formal friends, his classmates will be non entities to him and he can even want his classmates or even his formal school principal to become his gateman.
Pride and arrogance is the major thing that destroys a leader and his leadership.
4. A good leader is an example:
Days are gradually sliding off, when a leader can proudly tell his people to emulate his lifestyle, if that is done today, I tell you the negative impact on the society will be very devastating on the people, because what are they going to emulate; the selfishness, unsatisfying desire for wealth, proud lifestyle, unconcern attitude towards the followers, political deception and so on. Whenever the leader cannot be bold to tell his nobles to follow his foot step, it simply means that himself have the knowledge that he is not qualify to answer a good leader.
5 A good leader is transparent/accountable:
These has always been on the bill board during political campaign, but on ascending the throne, the reverse is always being the case. That is why for me personally, I recognize bad and evil hearted leaders based on their campaign promises. If a leader cannot state publicly how he spend the allocations, public funds and revenues coming into his local government, state, region and country, it means that such a leader have some cockroaches in his cupboard and is never a transparent leader and neither can be a good leader. Transparent leaders are rare to find and when a leader is conscious and too inquisitive of his own pocket, he can never be transparent non matter what. To this end, we have too many other factors that defines a good leader which cannot even be explained within the scope of this blog, but from time to time I will be coming back just to help our leaders and to the benefit of all.
Remember, it is not easy to occupy a leadership position and neither can be. But if you find yourself their, try to lead and don't rule.
Coming to;
How to identify a selfish leader?
It is as simple as ABC, but needs tactics and a designed formula, which I will like to share with you in this blog. This will serve as a guide for you not to make mistakes in chosen or appointing whom you want to become your leader, especially in the political setting. To recognize a leader that have a selfish motive, even prior to his leadership position, you ought to take cognizant of the following:
1. Examine his campaign promises:
Sometimes, these promises are deceiving and very difficult to be analyzed and understood the ones that are real. But if the would-be leader focuses only in promising heaven and earth to the people of his own region alone, it means he is going to turn a selfish leader and those promises will only be visible in his immediate family when he eventually become a leader of the people. So I don't trust or vote for a leader, because of the sweetness of his campaign promises.
2. Check out his past leadership impact/achievements:
Most of these leaders, have in one way or the other occupied a leadership position before, either as a class prefect in secondary school, SUG president in high institution, director in one organization or the other and so on. A self class prefect in secondary school, will eventually become a selfish governor or president when the chance is giving to him.
3. Trace back to his village/family:
You that want to identify a selfish leader, it will cost you to carry out research in asking questions about the person you want to lead you. This is because many selfish leaders we have today, started from homes, when the parents will buy sometime for you and your brothers and sisters, yet you want to enjoy it all alone. If you become a leader with that same mindset, you will finish the people you are leading.
4. Watch out the bearing of his inauguration speech/policy:
This is the easiest way of identifying who would become a selfish leader, because at this point, he is already feeling the wind of the throne of leadership and to him, he has finally succeeded and nobody can change it. At this point, the whole campaign promises will take the opposite direction. He promised better life, but his is going to close border, he promised industrialization, but he is going to sack more workers especially those that doesn't belong to his political party, he promised security, but he is now going to but age limit for recruiting youths to military and so on. This is why I published my Theory on bad leaders which states that;
"THE INAUGURATION SPEECH OF EVERY BAD LEADER IS DIRECTLY OPPOSITE TO HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISES AND VICE VERSA"
Mathematically;
Campaign promise = "I will create job opportunities, make life easy and regular electricity will be our identity..."
Inauguration speech = " From now, the border is hereby closed, there will be no importation, let the power companies pay their bills by themselves, government cannot continue to waste her resources only on electricity..."
Thus,
Government Failure = Campaign promise/Inauguration speech = -100%
My follow mathematicians, hope you understood the above formula, it is general for every country of the world, from Africa down to Europe
In my next content, I will then focused on the main topic that brought us into today's content. Thus;
The leader's mistake and it's cataclysmic effects on the people.
Is still coming your way, only:
